History and Success of the Business
The business was established in 1971 and has grown in terms of size and capability under the direction of Alan Lees.
From our birth, the company has continued to enjoy satisfying the needs of local people looking for quality new and used cars.
Garage Services provided by A.G.Lees
The company offers a wide range of services to the customer delivered by its dedicated staff.
We are RAC Approved and able to offer RAC sale warranty and RAC inspection of cars, should you request. The garage is also Ministry of Transport Approved (MOT) thereby being able to provide a complete maintenance and inspection service to every customer.
In addition to a full service and repair facility the company can offer easy access to our Accident Repair facilities through the Southern Accident Repair Centre, also located in Galashiels.

A G Lees Car Sales can offer our customers access tailored financial packages at very competitive rates. For vehicle up to 2 years in age the rates can be as low as 3.9%.
Our Friendly Staff
Alan has been in the motor industry all his working days from starting as an apprentice panel beater and mechanic with Chalmers McQueen. In 1971 he set up his own business offering body repairs and re-sprays. This has grown into the present day retail car sales business focusing on the sale of new and nearly new cars throughout the South of Scotland.
Recently joined the company bringing new skills associated with operating a modern windows based garage system.
She controls the accounts and often offers the customer the first point of contact with the car sales business.
Lawrence is the garage foreman and handles some of the car sales enquiries.
The motor trade has been in his blood from both a work and leisure angle, having been the Scottish Go-Cart Champion.
Trained to City & Guild parts 1 to 3 he also is a Landrover Technician, MOT approved tester, holds certificates from Rover and Honda, and is a LPG Gas approved fitter.
A time served panelbeater with refurnishing experience Colin joined us from Lauderdale Coachworks in 1998 having been with Lauderdale for 15 years. Colin is now our Senior Estimator and in charage of Workshop Control, two of the most important areas of our business.
He has held a full H.G.V. license for 6 years and hobbies include golf, fishing and clay pigeon shooting. Colin lives in Lauder with Jackie and sons Tom and Jack.
Jessie previously worked for West Car in Glasgow and after moving to the Borders, joined our Southern Accident Repair team in 1995. Initially employed as our main contact in reception, Jessie is now Office Manager in control of our parts purchases and invoicing procedures.
Jessie lives in Galashiels and interests include walking and retail therapy (shopping).
Jimmy is our customer advisor, who will gladly assist you in your choice of car and any information you should need on it. He was worked in the motor trade for over 25 years in motor factors (Brown Brothers) and enjoys rallying as a hobby, where he spent 20 years gaining and using his experience as a navigator.
